James Wadley, Ph.D., CST

Approach to supervision: Dr. Wadley utilizes a combination of integrative, social justice, and
family systems perspectives to address a myriad of issues related to relational and sexual
dysfunctions.

Bio: Dr. James Wadley is Professor and Chair of the Counseling and Human Services department
at Lincoln University. As a scholar-practitioner, he is a licensed professional counselor and
maintains a private practice in the States of Pennsylvania and New Jersey.
In 2017, Dr. Wadley’s work and advocacy domestically and abroad enabled him to complete his
first documentary, Raw to Reel: Race, Drugs, and Sex in Trenton, New Jersey, which captures
some of the challenges that emerge in addiction and recovery. In 2018, Dr. Wadley co-edited The
Art of Sex Therapy Supervision (Routledge) which is a book devoted to the clinical experiences of
supervisors and supervisees in the field of sex therapy. The book won AASECT’s 2019 Book of
the Year Award. His new book, The Handbook of Sexuality Leadership: Inspiring Community
Engagement, Social Empowerment, and Transformational Influence (Routledge) carves a new
path for sexuality educators, counselors, and therapists in that it serves as an invitation for re-
conceptualizing the consultative roles that sexuality professionals engage in.
Dr. Wadley received his Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Education from the University of
Pennsylvania with a concentration in Educational Leadership and Human Sexuality Education. In
2020, Dr. Wadley also earned a Performance Leadership Certificate from Cornell University and
has helped leaders engage in courageous and transformative dialogue about corporate social
responsibility and strategic change. He is an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist Supervisor. These
credentials and a wealth of domestic and international clinical experiences, has catapulted him to
be one of the nation’s best marriage, family, and sexuality clinicians.

Natalie A. N. Elliott, LPC, CPCS, LMFT-S, CST-S

Bio: Natalie A. N. Elliott, LPC-S, LMFT-S, CST-S, obtained a Master of Arts in Professional
Counseling from Argosy University in 2008. She has been licensed to practice counseling
independently as a Professional Counselor in Georgia since January 06, 2012 and licensed to
practice independently as a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist since August 1, 2012. She’s
been certified as an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist since May 10, 2012 and an AASECT Certified
Supervisor of Sex Therapy since April 2019. She has worked in 3 clinical settings: 1) an inpatient
psychiatric hospital, 2) a Community Service Board, and 3) a private practice. She has had
experience teaching counseling courses on both the graduate and undergraduate levels. She’s
been trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing and she’s a Certified
Hypnotherapist. Also, she has received specialized training to work with military veterans. Lastly,
she’s a Certified Daring Way Facilitator and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor. Natalie loves the
field of sex therapy and feels that training the next generation of sex therapists is a privilege and
an honor.

Dr. Janet Brito

Bio: Dr. Janet Brito is an AASECT-certified sex therapist & supervisor who also has a license in
clinical psychology and social work. She is a graduate of Pacifica Graduate Institute and
completed her postdoctoral fellowship from the University of Minnesota Medical School, one of
only a few university programs in the world dedicated to sexuality training. She is the founder of
the Hawaii Center for Sexual and Relationship Health, a group practice that specializes in the
areas of relationship and sex therapy, out of control sexual behavior, and gender and sexually
diverse populations. In 2021, she founded The Sexual Health School, an online training program
for health care professionals seeking human sexuality training. Dr. Brito has been featured on
many outlets, including The Oprah Magazine, The Huffington Post, Playboy, Healthline, Women’s
Health Magazine,Thrive Global, and Bustle. Her dissertation A phenomenological analysis on
infertility in Mexican women living in the United States was published in the Revista
Interamericana de Psicologia/Interamerican Journal of Psychology.

Renee Burwell

Bio: Renée Burwell, LCSW, MPA, CST is a skilled psychotherapist and educator with specializations in sex therapy and trauma. Her practice, Pandora’s Awakening, offers services and educational outreach that help destigmatize mental and sexual health services. She is a skilled facilitator offering trainings and workshops to healthcare and social services professionals on mental health, sexual health, and reproductive justice. In addition to her work at Pandora’s Awakening, she is also the executive director of the Tennessee Alliance of Sexual Health, a lecturer for University of Michigan and Vanderbilt University, on the community board for Planned Parenthood of Tennessee and North Mississippi, an active member of the Association of Black Sexologist, and is a writer and educator for various mediums including Pure Romance, Bedroom Kandi and CNN.

Renée has an organic and collaborative approach to supervision. She is a social worker who believes in meeting people where they are while challenging them to access resources to see beyond what might be presenting. She is IMAGO, PACT, Ellyn Bader’s Couple’s Institute, and EMDR trained. She is excited to see more sexuality educators and therapists in the field and looks forward to helping those along their journey

Stephanie Walthour

Bio: 
Stephanie is a proud HBCU graduate of North Carolina A&T State University. She is a licensed marriage and family therapist in the state of Georgia & Florida. Stephanie and her husband lived in Destin, FL for 8 years where she worked with military families and worked heavily with trauma, PTSD, LGBTQ, Trans, Non-monogamy, and blended families. Stephanie was the only Brown Therapist in her area and the only Sex Therapist in the 100-mile radius.

 

She and her family now split their time between Destin and Atlanta where she owns the Intimacy Center of GA.

Reece Malone

Bio: First generation Canadian-Philipinx, Dr. Reece Malone (he/him/siya) is the CEO and founder
of Sexuality Consultants and Support Services Manitoba, Inc. and counterpart company Diversity
Essentials. He is an advocate comprehensive human sexuality education, and often contributes
to public health campaigns, delivers education and training, as well as provides consultation on
sexual health policy and programming. His therapeutic practice centers client collaboration, and
creating an environment for individuals and relationships to be understood, valued, and
respected.

 He is an award-winning board-certified sexologist, certified sexuality education supervisor, he has
provided consultancy to national and international bodies including The Pan American Health
Organization of the World Health Organization, The Canadian and Manitoba Human Rights
Commission, and the District of Columbia Department of Health. He is a Canadian media go-to
source on current sexuality and gender issues and is qualified expert in trans and non-binary
adult health in the context of gender dysphoria. He has appeared as an expert witness to the
Manitoba Board of Adjudication for the Manitoba Human Rights Commission.

University Seattle Couple and Family Therapy Department.

editing An Intersectional Approach to Sex Therapy: Centering the Lives of Black, Indigenous,
